Jesus expended considerable effort in training His disciples to think differently about the Kingdom. Consider the statement with which He began His ministry, from Matthew 4:17:
Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
He came with a message, “The Kingdom is here. You can now look at everything differently.” His interactions with His disciples were to this end: That they would learn from what Jesus did, and think differently because of it.
If we desire to live differently, then it is imperative that we begin to think differently. Jesus came, and He brought His world with Him. An entirely different world, that operates quite differently from our own. If we want to co-operate with that world, we need to change the way that we think.
As this realisation began to unfold before me, God started leading me on a journey, which I’m still on today. It is a journey of discovery – discovering His nature, my nature, and the nature of His Kingdom.
This journey brought myself, Shaun Buckley, and my great friend Tony Maera to Redding, California, USA. We attended the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry beginning in September of 2008. The time we spent there changed our lives forever, and we are certain that it also changed the future of our children’s children.
September 2010 saw me returning to Redding, for a year long internship with Global Legacy, Bethel’s apostolic relational network. Tony remained in New Zealand to be part of a powerful team planting a church in Whangarei.
